As a Staff Software Engineer / Frontend Architect at PayPal, I lead the architecture and development of a cross-org React component platform that powers every page of PayPal.com and Venmo.com. Working with a team of 11 engineers, I help define the technical vision, guide architectural decisions, and drive delivery across a large, business-critical frontend platform.

One of my biggest achievements has been improving Core Web Vitals at scale through component redesign, rendering optimizations, and controlled rollouts on high-traffic pages. I also led the Venmo.com migration to the component platform, built internal tooling to improve release velocity and performance governance, and created the tokenization and theming foundation that now supports faster multi-brand launches. It has been a great opportunity to work on platform engineering at scale while partnering closely with product, design, and engineering teams across the organization.

My contribution

  • Led the frontend architecture and delivery of a cross-org React component platform powering every page of PayPal.com and Venmo.com.
  • Served as tech lead for the component team, helping drive roadmap, architecture reviews, and cross-org technical alignment.
  • Delivered measurable Core Web Vitals improvements at scale, improving PayPal.com homepage LCP from 3.48s to 2.24s on desktop and from 4.24s to 2.29s on mobile.
  • Led the migration of Venmo.com from a static site to the shared component platform, defining the component strategy and migration approach end-to-end.
  • Built performance governance and release tooling, including a bundle size analyzer integrated into PR reviews and CI/CD workflows.
  • Drove test and release modernization by supporting the Jest to Vitest migration and helping stabilize E2E testing to reduce flaky reruns and shorten release cycles.
  • Defined the tokenization strategy and built the theming foundation, including token library automation and multi-brand theme support.
  • Enabled major launches such as QuantumLeap, PayPal Everywhere, and Fastlane while maintaining backward compatibility and zero breaking changes.
  • Contributed hands-on to component development with a strong focus on accessibility, responsiveness, maintainability, and production quality.
  • Currently driving site-wide media optimization experiments through the component platform to improve load performance and reduce asset weight at scale.
